Alberto Murillo es Ingeniero Industrial, Doctor por la Universidad de Deusto y Experto en Elementos Finitos por la UNED. Su investigación se ha enfocado en la simulación FEM de procesos de fabricación, la caracterización de aleaciones metálicas a alta temperatura y su comportamiento tribológico. Tras su tesis sobre perforado de tubos sin soldadura, ha ampliado su interés a la soldadura por fricción-agitación, otros procesos de conformado y el near-solidus forming (NSF). Actualmente lidera proyectos para mejorar la sostenibilidad y reducir la energía en procesos de conformado metálico aplicando NSF, también aplicados a componentes del sector eólico, y estudia nuevas tecnologías de reciclaje de virutas metálicas mediante Thermal-CloseDie-Extrusion (TCX). Ha publicado 18 artículos JCR, tres capítulos de libro y participado en 8 congresos internacionales, además de colaborar en proyectos financiados por la UE, Carbon Trust, y otras entidades.
