pjasiimwe@deusto.esAsiimwe Paddy Junior holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Makerere University(Uganda) in 2012 and a Masters degree in Data Communications and Software Engineering from Makerere University in 2016. He has served as an Assistant Lecturer and a researcher with the Department of Information Systems at the College of Computing and Information Science (CoCIS) Makerere University since 2012. He is currently doing a PhD in Engineering for the Information Society and Sustainable Development and also work as a research assistant at DeustoTech at the University of Deusto. His project will lead to a comprehensive energy efficient IoT based Monitoring and Positioning system for the elderly especially those with dementia in both indoor and outdoor, rural resource constrained environments. Through creating independent living and ageing of the elderly, the system will relieve the burden on family caregivers especially the girl child who sometimes has to sacrifice her education to look after the elderly relatives and the nation in terms of expenditure and increased working force. This project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Sklodowska-Curie grant agreement.
