Methodology and contents

All sessions are led by lecturers and industry experts with first-hand experience in transforming their organisations to align with the requirements of the Industry 4.0 era. Classes focus on the analysis of real-world cases, where participants actively debate, question, and collaborate to solve practical problems. The ultimate goal is for participants to apply the knowledge gained through a final project, which can then be implemented within their own organisations.

Industry 4.0: Fundamentals (Coordinated by the University of Deusto - 2 ECTS credits)

Specific Goals:

  • Raise awareness of the ongoing changes related to the digital transformation of businesses, and introduce the concept of Industry 4.0.
  • Understand the opportunities offered by new technologies.
  • Introduce the legal and regulatory implications associated with applying new technologies in the context of digital transformation.

Phases towards Smart Industry (Coordinated by IMH Escuela Universitaria de Ingeniería Dual - 4 ECTS Credits)

Specific Goals:

  • Acquire the knowledge and methodology to lead and define a strategy towards smart industry.
  • Identify the critical variables for improving productivity and company positioning, taking into account the principles of Industry 4.0.
  • Define the data management strategy for critical variables, design monitoring and prioritisation systems, and analyse information to support decision-making.

Strategic vision: New Processes/Services (Coordinated by Tecnun-University of Navarra - 4 ECTS credits)

Specific Goals:

  • Analyse the impact of implementing new technologies in a company, including how these changes would affect market analysis, people management, and financial performance.
  • Develop a comprehensive action plan encompassing all of the above.

Information and communications security (Coordinated by Mondragon Unibertsitatea - 2 ECTS credits)

Specific Goals:

  • Understand and prioritise digital competences and tools according to the organisation’s operations and needs.
  • Gain knowledge of the latest methods, techniques, and tools related to data management, storage, and protection.
  • Develop criteria to identify critical data and services for an advanced manufacturing company in relation to its cybersecurity.
  • Identify the necessary protection measures against cybersecurity threats.

Project (Coordinated by Basque Industry 4.0 - 4 ECTS credits)

Specific Goals:

  • Design a personalised strategy and plan for an individual project, based on the vision, knowledge, and methodology acquired.
  • Integration of soft skills through the teaching methodology and the personalised project.
  • Leadership and team development skills
  • Adaptability to change
  • Critical thinking and judgement and decision-making
  • Interaction and communication with digital tools (teleworking, collaboration, etc.)

4GUNE Executive Programme in Industry 4.0

Participating centres

This programme is coordinated by 4GUNE, the Basque University Training Cluster in Engineering, Science and Technology. The cluster is led and promoted by the Basque Government's Department of Education and includes eleven Basque University System Centres, the Basque Industry 4.0 Steering Group, the Basque Innovation Agency Innobasque, the Basque Business Confederation Confebask and its partners Adegi, Cebek and SEA, SPRI and the Automotive Intelligent Center (AIC).

 

To deliver this programme, the cluster includes the Faculty of Computer Science at the University of the Basque Country/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea, the Dual Engineering University School IMH, Mondragon University’s Polytechnic School, the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Deusto, and Tecnun—University of Navarra. Each centre delivers teaching in its key specialities, contributing both academic staff and industry professionals with whom they actively collaborate.
