  • What if I decide to sit the exam after the enrolment deadline?
    You will be charged a late fee and the amount will depend on the date you enrol. Furthermore, the exam session you are interested in may be full.
     
  •  How do I know where and when the exam is?
    When you enrol online, you will receive an email confirming that your enrolment is being properly processed. After the enrolment deadline and a couple of weeks before the written exam, you will receive an email which indicates the exact place you must go for the different parts of the exam.

  • Can you do all the parts of the exam on the same day?
    The written exam is usually taken before the speaking exam. No more than 14 days will elapse between the written and speaking exams if they are not held on the same date.
     
  • Can I cancel my enrolment?
    Enrolment will only be cancelled and the amount refunded due to justified medical reasons. A certificate is required.
     
  • When and how do I collect my certificate?
    You will receive an email informing you that the certificates have arrived. This is usually about one month after the exam session. Certificates are only sent by post in special cases. If you cannot collect it in person, any third party who collects if for you must bring a copy of your ID.
     
  • What is the recommended age of candidates for these exams?

    Exams for children (over 10 years old):
    - GOETHE-ZERTIFIKAT A1: FIT IN DEUTSCH 1
    - GOETHE-ZERTIFIKAT A2: FIT IN DEUTSCH 2

    Exams for children (over 12 years old):
    - GOETHE-ZERTIFIKAT B1J

    Exams for young people (over 16 years old):
    - GOETHE-ZERTIFIKAT A1: START DEUTSCH 1
    - GOETHE-ZERTIFIKAT A2: START DEUTSCH 2
    - GOETHE-ZERTIFIKAT A2
    - GOETHE-ZERTIFIKAT B1
    - GOETHE-ZERTIFIKAT B2
    - GOETHE-ZERTIFIKAT C1

    Exams for adults (over 18 years old):
    - GOETHE-ZERTIFIKAT C2: GROSSES DEUTSCHES SPRACHDIPLOM

    If a candidate sits an exam before having reached the recommended age, or is a considerably different age from that recommended, the result of the exam may not be contested for age-related reasons such as the use of topics which are not appropriate for the candidate's age, or similar motives. Candidates may sit the exams without having attended any specific language course and are not required to have obtained the certificate for the previous level.
  • What is the difference between the Start Deutsch and FIT exams?
    The only difference is the age of the candidate sitting the exam.
    Fit in Deutsch 1 is an exam for children and young people aged 10 to 16.
    Fit in Deutsch 2 is an exam for children and young people aged 12 to 16.
    Start Deutsch 1 and 2 are exams for students over 16.
     
  • What are the differences between the B1 and B1j exams?
    The only difference is the age of the candidate sitting the exam.
    A minimum age of 12 is recommended for young people taking the Goethe-Zertifikat B1 (B1j.
    A minimum age of 16 is recommended for adults (B1) taking the Goethe-Zertifikat B1.
     
  • What does doing the exam by modules mean?
    There are two exams- level B1 and level C2- which can be done by modules. The exams are divided into 4 modules (read, listen, write and speak) and candidates may take all of them at once or only the modules they choose. The certificates are also awarded by modules (4 certificates) unless the candidate passes all the modules in the same exam (only 1 certificate).
     
  • Can “special conditions” be requested?
    There are specific regulations applicable to candidates with special needs, provided that a certificate verifying this is submitted when enrolling for the exam. See the possible conditions at https://www.goethe.de/pro/relaunch/prf/es/Teilnehmende_mit_spezifischem_Bedarf.pdf
     
  • I have lost my certificate, can I request a duplicate?
    A duplicate can be requested for a lost certificate for a fee of 30 euros. Please send an email to goethe@deusto.es, indicating your name, surnames, the certificate you were awarded and the date.

People who are proven to have forged Goethe-Institut marks will not allowed to sit the exams for one year after the Institut has verified said forgery. This one year ban is applicable across the world, both for exams held at the Goethe-Institut as well as its partner centres.
