On 29 October 2020, Cecilia Martinez of the Center for Applied Ethics (CEA) of the University of Deusto presented together with Mary Tere Guzmán (ALBOAN) and Carlos Askunze (REAS Euskadi) the results of the study “Citizen Company. Proposals for a new way of thinking and doing business”. The study is the fruit of a reflection process involving representatives of the civil society, business, cooperatives, universities and public administration that started from a research initiative developed by Cecilia Martinez, Peru Sasia and Galo Bilbao of the CEA.
According to Cecilia Martinez, a citizen company is one that "considers itself responsible for its actions, participates in the social debate and positions itself to move towards a fairer and more sustainable model of society". The concept “is not a close model or a checklist of things to be accomplished, but an invitation to think differently".
