DEUSTO will host the World Forum “Peace and Justice: a common quest for Universities, governments and civil society”

On 20 and 21 February 2020, the University of Deusto will host the first international forum, organised by THE-Times Higher Education, on the impact of universities on the promotion of justice and peace, Goal 16 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The prestigious British institution THE has chosen DEUSTO as the venue for this meeting, recognising its important role in promoting SDGs. The first edition of the THE World Ranking on the contribution of universities to the 2030 Agenda ranked DEUSTO as the 27 best in the world.

This international forum will analyse the role universities can and should play in supporting justice, peace and human rights to promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development.

The event will be opened by the Rector of the University of Deusto, José Maria Guilbert, and count with the participation of Basque Government lehendakari Iñigo Urkullu as well as other prestigious international speakers. Other speakers from the University of Deusto are Eduardo Ruiz (Dean of the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences), Javier Arellano (Director of the Center for Applied Ethics) and Maria Jose Aranguren (Director of the Orkestra-Basque Institute of Competitiveness).
