Deusto Leisure Studies participated in the Regional Congress of the International Association of Physical Education and Sport for Girls and Women

Deusto Leisure Studies of the University of Deusto participated in the Regional Congress of the International Association of Physical Education and Sport for Girls and Women (IAPESGW) held at the European University of Madrid.

Deusto Leisure Studies researchers delivered two presentations:

  • Leisure education to promote sport practice: Exploring the discourse of healthy active ageing in women, by Yolanda Lázaro, Joseba Doistua and Idurre Lazcano Quintana. It focussed in the education for leisure to improve the life style of some population groups which do not have sport tradition, as elderly women, as one of the keys to enhance health ageing.
  • Examination of the serious leisure perceptions of sportswomen: an approximation from diversity, by Sheila Romero da Cruz, Aurora Madariaga Ortuzar and Yolanda Lázaro. This presentation compared the different perceptions (regarding benefits, effort, identity, etc.) of two different groups of women (with and without physical disabilities) about their sport practice.
