The University of Deusto has hosted the last learning mobility of the EU funded project CONNECT from 25 to 27 November 2019. 60 participants, coming from the United Kingdom, Denmark, Poland, Italy and Spain gathered together to reflect on audience development in cultural organisations and to get to know the cultural landscape in Bilbao.
CONNECT is a Knowledge Alliance that since 2017 and over the course of 3 years has designed and implemented the so-called “Twin Track Programme (TTP) in Audience Development”. This programme targets postgraduate students and senior practitioners from cultural organisations. They attend a course where they are paired and asked to work in couples on an audience challenge in the form of an action-research project that they should define and implement together in the cultural organisation where the practitioner works. In order to make this happen, students have become interns of the practitioners’ cultural organisations during the months of the action research project. A mentoring programme has also been set up to support both students and practitioners throughout this process.
During the Bilbao learning mobility, different cultural organisations from Bilbao, such as the Euskalduna Conference Centre; Azkuna Zentroa Alhóndiga Bilbao; Espacio Open; ZAWP; the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum and the Guggenheim Bilbao, have opened their doors to share their way of developing audiences.
