Basque Government and Orkestra sign an agreement on the economic and competitive dimension of the Cultural and Creative Industries.

The Department of Culture and Language Policy of the Basque Government and Orkestra-Basque Institute of Competitiveness have signed a collaboration agreement to promote research on the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI), a sector that plays an important role in promoting the economy, job creation and innovation.

The agreement has been presented today in Bilbao by the Minister of Culture and Language Policy, Bingen Zupiria, and the general director of Orkestra, Mari Jose Aranguren, and hinges on three fundamental axes on which both institutions have agreed to work: To deepen the economic dimension and quantification of cultural activity in the Basque Country and the implementation of policies for its development, to define the positioning of cultural activities in the face of the three transitions of the Basque economy and to analyze the relationship between the economic dimension of cultural activity and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The first results of this collaboration have materialized in a collection of open-access publications available on the website of the Basque Cultural Observatory under the title CCI positioning studies.
