In this article, the researchers seek to present cut-off points for the early detection of frailty in clinical practice through the study of reference values for four-meters Gait Speed (GS) in people over 65 years of age in the Basque Country.
Researchers have concluded that Gait Speed is a straightforward test which provides time information to indirectly assess frailty. Thus, it should be applied in the clinic and primary care health centers for earlier detection of frailty and sarcopenia, considering it a sensitive and specific tool, with high repeatability among older adults.
