Professor Kevin Morgan recommended the University of Deusto for its social responsibility, social engagement and progress done on the Social Impact of Research. As a result, Sarah Evans, Cardiff University Engagement Officer, has made an Erasmus staff mobility to learn on the methods and tools being developed by the University of Deusto to monitor the social impact of research projects. During the visit, the UK Research Excellence Framework (REF) and Cardiff University Engagement Strategy have also been analysed with a group of Deusto researchers and key staff. 

The rector of the University of Deusto, José María Guibert, has made a presentation on the Relevance of Social Impact for Universities, where he argued about the need and the challenges of devising a model to monitor social impact adaptable to the needs of each institution and each project.

The University of Deusto has participated in the Sussex Impact Day, an annual day of activities designed to support impact and to share impact knowledge. Teams from the two universities exchanged practices in the field and learn from each others' experiences.

Toñi Caro, from Deusto Advanced Research Centre (DARC), participated in this 3-day international course for science funding experts and research programme designers, where topics such as stakeholder commitment in a science funding scheme or research programme with societal impact components; integrating societal impact ex ante, ex durante or ex post in (the evaluation of) a research programme; and capacity building on societal impact were analysed.
