Interdisciplinary Research group of the University of Deusto at the 5th Global Research Conference on Social Innovation and Socio-Digital Transformation

With more than 200 attendees, the 5th Global Research Conference on Social Innovation and Socio-Digital Transformation took place on 28 and 29 October in Dortmund (Germany). The event was organised as part of the activities carried out in collaboration with the European School of Innovation (ESSI), of which the University of Deusto is Board member since 2014.

The conference brought together leading experts in social innovation research to discuss and share policy approaches and outstanding practices in this field. In particular, Mr. Martin, from the Social Innovation Task Force of the European Commission highlighted the role social innovation should play in the upcoming EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, Horizon Europe.

DEUSTO’s interdisciplinary research group on Social Innovation, gathering researchers of the Faculties of Law and Engineering (Marta Enciso, Aitor Almeida, Olatz Ukar and Cruz Borges) and Toñi Caro (IRPO) participated in the event and presented their papers in three different sessions:

  • Ecosystems of Social Innovation
  • The role of Social Innovation for Sustainable Development
  • Digital Social innovation for an Inclusive Society

As follow up of the EU-funded project SI-DRIVE, the 2nd edition of the Atlas of Social Innovation was also presented during the event. The publication includes three articles of the DEUSTO interdisciplinary group of researchers Social Innovation and Technological Transformations for Glocal Challenges focusing on Social Innovation practices.
