Chair of Computational Mathematics
The Chair is a center of mathematical research committed with the development of ground-breaking research in the areas of Partial Differential Equations, and its numerical approximation methods with interdisciplinary and technological applications.
The experience of its members includes non-lineal dynamics and control theory, network dynamics, multiphysics and aerospace engineering applications, energy and environment, scientific computation and non-local and random modeling. The team has a well-defined collaborative background with different industrial sectors, such as the design of optimum shapes in aeronautics or the optimization of electric and water distribution networks. It is worth noting that the Chair is heavily involved in the training of the new generation of applied mathematicians with a broad perspective, combining the depth of mathematical methods, the strength of computational tools and the applications in real life settings.
The Chair significantly supports its research in the development of the DyCon project financed by the European Research Council as well as in other projects of national and regional nature that promote the application of mathematical research in fields such as energy. Thereby, to the Chair, the consolidation of the transfer of knowledge is one of the great challenges and strategic cores for action in the coming years.
