Ethical evaluation of projects

Procedure for the preparation of ethical suitability reports by the Research Ethics Committee of the University of Deusto

Submission of Projects for Assessment

In accordance with the Regulations of the Research Ethics Committee of the University of Deusto, in order to address the assessment requirements of research projects and the preparation of suitability reports, the researchers responsible for a project must submit a duly completed and signed assessment request form to the Research Ethics Committee of the University of Deusto (see Appendix 1).

Projects on PhD dissertations, as appropriate, must be submitted by the PhD supervisor, who will be responsible for submitting and signing the request form.

In addition, those research papers or projects whose publication in specialist journals requires an ethical suitability report on the methodology used by the Research Ethics Committee of the Centre to which the researcher and his/her team belong are also subject to assessment.

 Suitability assessment and reporting

Projects will be classified and evaluated by subject area, considering that the great majority of research projects conducted at the University of Deusto require interaction with human beings (at different levels) and social interventions of an ethical nature.

Each member of the Research Ethics Committee will draw up a report so that each project will be assessed by one or two members. Where deemed appropriate, they may require external experts for the ethical assessment of the project.
