The EDI project is looking for 50 start-ups and SMEs from all over Europe

“EDI has allowed the transformation of our business”. This was a common statement coming from several of the big data start-ups that participated in the first edition of the incubation programme of the European project EDI. EDI - European Data Incubator is a EU-funded project, let by the University of Deusto in partnership with 20 other European organisations, aiming to promote the data economy.

The second edition of EDI’s incubation programme is already underway and is currently looking for 50 big data start-ups and SMEs from all over Europe to participate in the new round of the incubation programme.

The selected startups will receive up to € 100,000 equity-free funding, support services and workshops with personal mentors, a cloud environment for scalable data processing, direct contact with large companies’ representatives and the opportunity to solve real challenges with real data. The programme lasts for 8 months, from August 2018 to April 2019, splitted into three phases of growth.

How does it work?

The interested startups and SMEs will solve a challenge during the incubation programme. This year's call allows 3 types of participation:

  1. Ready-made: a challenge proposed by EDI or the data providers in the IoT (Internet of Things) sectors, transport, sport, gaming, media, energy and the environment, fraud detection, smart cities, retail and finance.
  2. Half and half: allows you to solve your own challenge using one EDI data set and one external data set.
  3. Free choice: allows you to solve your own challenge, and solve it by working with your own data provider and external data sets.

You can register by 19 June through this link: www.f6s.com/europeandataincubator2019/apply
