European Data Incubator (EDI) project opens its first Call for Startups and SMEs working with Big Data

European Data Incubator (EDI) project opens its first call for European start-ups and SMEs willing to sort out actual business challenges from a myriad of data providers. Selected teams could earn up to €100.000 equity-free funding and receive additional free support technical and business services.

 

EDI is an Innovation Action project funded by Horizon 2020 – EU Research and Innovation programme. The project is coordinated by the University of Deusto and aims at leveraging the technology and knowledge on Big Data across countries and sectors thanks to the incubation of start-ups/SMEs who use Big Data open source tools. EDI expects to incubate around 140 companies under a 3-phase incubation programme (funnel approach) launching 3 call for proposals and disbursing up to €5M equity-free, committing to raise additional financing resources up to €15M mainly from private investors.
