The University of Deusto will hold the new edition of the Congress "Carmona Movement for the Feminisation of Private Law”

On 19-20 September 2019, the University of Deusto will hold a new edition of the Congress "Carmona Movement for the Feminization of Private Law”. This movement, born in the Andalusian city of Carmona, in 2009, was promoted by different Professors of Civil Law, in response to their concerns about the invisibility of the gender issue in the field of Private Law.

On this edition, three important topics will be addressed:

  • The evolution of the legal system itself, applying the transversality criteria (the role of women in this change continues to be increasingly visible, both as an active motor for Law evolution and as the recipient of that evolution);
  • The leadership, employment, and innovation with gender perspective in the economy, from a broad perspective in an increasingly complex and disruptive environment (issues such as work from home, collaborative economy, female poverty or glass ceilings will be discussed);
  • The international and European Union strategies to promote equality and the fight against discrimination, gender violence, harassment and protection of victims.

The congress will be held by the Faculty of Law of the University of Deusto, the research group EDISPE (Social development, economy and innovation for people), as well as the Jean Monnet Chair in European Union Economic and Legal Integration for People.
