The European Day for Sustainable Communities is a celebration of local communities acting for a better and more sustainable world. There are many communities across Europe developing initiatives in response to climate and ecological challenges, such as renewable energy cooperatives, community farms and gardens, ecological housing projects and waste reduction initiatives. The European Day for Sustainable Communities aims to provide a focal point, helping making these actions visible to each other, to the wider public and to policy makers at all levels.

The European Network for Community-led Initiatives on Climate Change and Sustainability is the initiator and main organiser of the European Day of Sustainable Communities.
