Experts analyse the challenge of ageing in advanced societies at Deusto Business School

The report published by the Mapfre Foundation with the title “Population Ageing” was presented at Deusto Business School campus in Madrid, in an event that counted with the participation of Manuel Escudero, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Spain at OECD and former Director General of Deusto Business School.

The report states that the ageing of world’s population, due to the combined effect of the dramatic reduction in fertility rates and the increase in life expectancy, has profound social and economic implications in the short, medium and long terms. This requires the participation of public policies to protect social well-being, either actively by offering certain guarantees of social coverage or passively by preventing perverse incentives that could distort the production system and the social security scheme associated with it.

The report complements the actions developed by Deusto Business School and Mapfre under the concept of ageingnomics, the new economy of aging.
