The European Project Big Data Models and Intelligent Tools for Quality of Life (BD4QoL) has published an article entitled artículo 708TiP BD4QoL: A multicenter randomized trial for monitoring quality of life (QoL) by intelligent tools in head and neck cancer (HNC) survivors after curative treatment in the journal Annals of Oncology.
Health and neck cancer survivors suffer from heavy physical, psychological and socioeconomic burdens. Achieving an optimal quality of life in a cancer free survival is the primary goal for these patients, thus, maintaining lifelong surveillance becomes essential.
In this sense, the article presents the clinical trial designed to reduce the number of head and neck cancer survivors who experience worsening of their quality of life. In order to do so, advanced analysis of environmental, emotional and behavioural data. collected with mobile devices will be carried out.
Researchers from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Deusto, Aitor Almeida and Aritz Bilbao, belong to the group of authors within the publication coordinated by Fondazione IRCCS Instituto Nazionale dei Tumori of Milan (Italy).
The BD4QoL project is funded by European funds from the Horizon 2020 programme and aims to improve the quality of life of head and neck cancer in survivors by developing a person-centered monitoring and follow-up plan by using mobile application means based on artificial intelligence.
