A high-level delegation of the University of Deusto, composed by the Rector José María Guibert, the Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation (Rosa Maria Santibañez), the Vice-Rector for International Relations (Alexander Félix Rayon) and the Director of the International Research Project Office (Antonia Caro), participated in the International Association Universities 2018 conference organised in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) on 13 to 15 November 2018.
The international conference was organised on the theme of Higher education partnerships for societal impact and gathered the global higher education community to reflect on and discuss their mandate and social responsibility, while presenting different forms of partnerships adopted around the world and for what societal impact. Participants also discussed the challenges and obstacles related to delivering on the third mission of universities.
During the event, DEUSTO delegation met with its counterparts of the University of Malaysia (the rector, research and international responsible authorities) to discuss the different Universities’ strategies and opportunities for future collaboration. DEUSTO also participated in the parallel session “Living Values for Sustainable Partnerships and Societal Impact” and gave its insights on the importance of “Values” in the Higher Education context. During the event, DEUSTO had the opportunity of meeting with Rita Locatelli (UNESCO Chair on Human Rights and Ethics of international cooperation, University of Bergamo and University of Bologna).
