Social Impact

ADOPTION – ORIGINS addresses the family theme and its objective is to equip adoptive parents with the right tools to improve communication about their children’s' origins.

  • The project has led to the development of a psychoeducational intervention programme that allows adoptive parents to share experiences, resources, suggestions and advice, to identify and solve problems together and to reduce feelings of loneliness, distrust and guilt.
  • The programme has brought together more than 27 parents in the four editions held until now.
  • A manual containing theoretical contents and activities has been published for the group coordinator. The manual has been revised by renowned experts in adoption, both from the academic world and public bodies.
  • This intervention programme has been presented in international conferences and in outreach sessions for adoption experts in the Basque Country, Barcelona, Madrid and is featured in a chapter of F.Loizaga’s book Adolescentes adoptados. Avances en el estudio de la adopción desde el enfoque del apego y vínculo (pp. 465-485). Bilbao: Ediciones Mensajero
