DEUSTO H2020 project Waste4Think is an example of European project with social impact

On 13 February 2020, the European project Waste4Think was presented as a good example of a research project with social impact at the conference Social and Political Impact of Science organised by Ikerbasque - the Basque Foundation for Science.

Coordinated by the University of Deusto, Waste4Think: Moving towards life cycle thinking by integrating advanced waste management systems is funded by Horizon 2020: the EU research and innovation programme.

Waste4Think aims at moving forward the current waste management system into a circular economy model integrating and validating 20 eco-innovative solutions that cover all the waste value chain. These solutions are being validated in 4 municipalities: Zamudio (Spain), Halandri (Greece), Cascais (Portugal) and Seveso (Italy), representing different socio-demographic characteristics, industrialisation levels and waste management models. Waste4Think has a also a social dimension: to raise awareness and educate to transform habits and establish a new efficient, sustainable and transparent management system, generating new governance and business models.
