Deusto Social Values

Objetivo, líneas y equipo

Brief description of the research aims

The Deusto Social Values Team (EDVS) is made up of teaching and research staff from the Department of Social Work and Sociology of the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of the University of Deusto. The disciplines from which the research is carried out are basically Sociology and Social Work. The methodologies used are both quantitative and qualitative, with a transversal presence of the gender perspective.

It is one of the three research teams that support the Doctoral Program in Human Rights: Ethical, Political and Social Challenges at the University of Deusto.
The EDVS of the University of Deusto has obtained on three consecutive occasions the
recognition as a team of excellence in the calls of the Department of
Education of the Basque Government (2006-2012; 2013-2018 and 2018-2021). On all three occasions it has been awarded the "A" category. The central theme of the team is the analysis of social values, which is carried out focusing on two main lines of research: 1. Analysis of Society and democracy through the study of political events and 2. Well-being and Social Policy, through from the study of social inclusion-exclusion processes and intervention systems.

The longitudinal and comparative perspectives are key methodological tools since the EDVS represents Spain in the EuropeanValueSurveyStudyGroup (EVS), is a member of the EVS Executive Board, and has been applying the survey since 1981. The EDVS not only performs quantitative analyzes of the European survey and improvement of statistical exploitation, also prioritizes theoretical reflection. Likewise, the EDVS carries out more applied research that, based on the knowledge provided by the data, can contribute to improving social intervention systems and provide answers to the social inclusion-exclusion processes that our society faces.

One of their main projects is THE FRONTVIDA PROJECT.
