The global prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2) has reached epidemic levels. In Spain, it is estimated a prevalence of 13.8% (with 6% of the population undiagnosed), while worldwide this figure would be around 8.3%. The prevention and control of DM2 have become one of the most important public health challenges.
Multimorbidity, on the other hand, is a common problem in today's society, with an increasingly ageing population, and it is frequent in patients with DM2. Therefore, the challenge of multimorbidity for value care in patients with DM2 is a reality that needs to be addressed from an integrated and systemic perspective.
Deusto Business School Health will organise a seminar on these challenges on 9 and 10 November in Bilbao. The objective of the seminar Diabetes and multimorbidity: a challenge for integrated care is to open a space for reflection and collaborative learning, as well as updating on key aspects of clinical management and management of people with DM2 in a context of co-morbidity and multimorbidity.
