Rocío García-Carrión is Ikerbasque Research Fellow at the University of Deusto. She has been Marie Curie Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Faculty of Education at the University of Cambridge. She has been member of the Psychology and Education academic group and Research Associate to Wolfson College. She has been a researcher in CREA Centre for Research on Theories and Practices that Overcome Inequalities, one of the most recognised interdisciplinary research centres in the Social Sciences in Europe for the past 10 years. Her research interests include schools as learning communities, dialogic learning and classroom interaction, children’s personal epistemologies and research methods. She has been involved in the INCLUD-ED project (2006-2011), directed by Dr. Ramón Flecha. INCLUD-ED’s has been the only SSH research included by the EC among the ten most successful researches in EU and demonstrated how scientific work in the social sciences has had real socio-political impact. Currently, she is associated to IMPACT-EV. Evaluating the impact and outcomes of European SSH research, which is the research project that the European Commission’s 7th Framework Programme of research has funded in order to develop indicators and standards that will serve to evaluate not only the scientific impact of the research in the SSH but particularly its political and social impacts. Her publications in journals ranked in the Journal Citation Reports, books and book chapters show her interdisciplinary expertise in linking pedagogy, educational psychology, sociology and research methods. Since 2011 she has been convenor of the European Conference on Educational Research (ECER) Network 14 “Communities, families, and schooling in educational research”. She serves as coordinator of the Educational Psychology area for CIMIE, the International Multidisciplinary Conference of Educational Research. Since 2014 she serves as reviewer for the APA, American Psychological Association, and as a co-editor for IJEP, the International Journal of Educational Psychology. She is the president AMIE, Asociación Multidisciplinar de Investigación Educativa and member of the Council of WERA, the World Educational Research Association.
