Esther Zulaika Ijurko holds a BA and PhD in Basque Philology from the University of Deusto, San Sebastian campus. She is currently a Lecturer at the University of Deusto, at the Bilbao and San Sebastian campuses. She lectures on the BA in Communication. Specifically, she teaches the following subjects: Communicative Skills (in Basque); Message Analysis and Assessment (in Basque), Basque Varieties (in Basque). She also teaches the Basque Classics course on the BA in Basque Philology.She is a member of the Communication research team and takes part in research projects in the “Communication: discourse and values” area. Her other research areas include linguistics and Basque Philologies.Her publications mainly focus on written communication in Basque. In recent years she has been working on analysis of the written communication skills among young Basque speakers both in formal (academic) and informal (social networks) contexts.
