Uniservitate, Service-Learning program in Catholic Higher Education

The University of Deusto has been chosen by Porticus to participate in the "Universitate" Service-Learning program within the framework of Catholic Higher Education Institutions (CHEIs). The University of Deusto has been chosen as the Regional Node for Southern Western Europe.

The "UNISERVITATE" Service-Learning Program in Catholic Higher Education is coordinated by Porticus, with the assistance of CLAYSS (Latin American Center for Service-Learning) and a network of allied organizations and Catholic Higher Education Institutions (CHEIs).

 

Objectives

“UNISERVITATE aims to generate a systemic change in the CHEIs through the institutionalization of Service-Learning (SL) as a tool to carry out its mission of integral education. The objective is to generate agents of social change that are critically committed to achieving a better society in accordance with the social doctrine of the Church.
The Program aims to articulate teaching, research and social commitment aligned with the main mission of the CHEIs to integrate their spiritual identity in an innovative way.

 

Service-Learning Methodology

This strategy combines learning processes and community service in a well-articulated project in which participants develop skills by working on real environmental needs with the aim of improving it.
