Deusto Business School and Mapfre Foundation hold the 1st Academic Seminar on Ageing and COVID-19

Deusto Business School and MAPFRE Foundation, through the new Ageingnomics Research Center, held the 1st Academic Seminar on Ageing and COVID-19 on 16 December 2020. The initiative aims to advance frontier knowledge on the interaction between ageing and economy during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The event served to recognise initiatives aimed at finding solutions to some of the challenges that have arisen in the framework of the health crisis. A total of seven projects have been presented by researchers and health professionals from Madrid, Catalonia, the Basque Country and Cantabria, that were selected by the seminar scientific committee from among the numerous proposals received in the September open call.

The presentations were related to long-term care for the elderly in the COVID-19 era, the family and care of people with dementia in times of coronavirus or the geographical distribution of the elderly population, care services and incidence of cases during the pandemic. Other topics under analysis were “ageing is not synonymous of losing life”, innovative age management initiatives, utility and acceptance of a virtual assistance tool by COVID-19 patients.
