ORKESTRA presents the 2019 Basque Country Competitiveness Report and discusses the professional skills for an economy in transformation

Orkestra - Basque Institute of Competitiveness will present the main conclusions of the Basque Country Competitiveness Report on 16 October 2019. It will also present its analysis on the skills that are needed for the economic and social development of the Basque Country.

The event "Beyond competencies" will be chaired by Lehendakari Iñigo Urkullu, and will bring together leading representatives of the economic, institutional, business and social field of the Basque Country.

The Competitiveness Report of the Basque Country 2019 makes a diagnosis of the socio-economic situation of the Basque Country identifying its strengths and weaknesses and forecasting the challenges that will have to be faced in the coming years.

In this edition, in addition, Orkestra has analysed the skills that will have to be fostered in the new scenario, marked by mega trends such as digitalisation, the green economy or ageing and its consequences on future labour market.

The event counts with the participation of Francis Green, Professor of Labor and Education Economics at University College London, who is going to talk about employment trends and prospects.

Orkestra researcher, James Wilson, will then moderate a discussion session with Karen Maguire, responsible for Local Employment, Skills and Social Innovation Division / LEED Program (OECD); María Silvestre, Director of Social Deustobarometer; Benjamin Rosende, president of RDT Ingenieros; and Miguel Ángel Castillo, Director of Technology Development at Aernnova.
