The European Investment Bank (EIB) has conducted a survey in the European Union, the United States and China with the aim of contributing to a broader debate on climate change and the responsibilities and expectations of citizens on the matter of Actions for the Climate. 25,000 people participated in this survey, with a representative panel for each country.
The socio-economic observatory of Bizkaia, bbk behatokia, prepared by Deusto Business School, valued the relevance of this survey and carried out a similar exercise for Bizkaia, to know the opinion of Bizkay citizens on climate change.
In Bizkaia, 8 out of 10 people are concerned with the impact of climate change; a level of concern above all the other countries of the European Union and the United States. The majority agrees that climate change is mostly caused by human actions (58.8%), a percentage superior to the European average.
For most of the Bizkaia citizens, climate change is already a threat. On this point, Bizkaia citizens are closer to the positioning of the citizens of other Southern Europe countries, which are "more concerned" than those of the north. Especially interesting is the concern among young people from Biscay (18 to 34 years old), where there is a greater feeling of “alarm”.
