On 6 October, Mercedes Siles Molina, director of ANECA, Inmaculada Aguilar, managing director of FECYT, and Ana Isabel González, president of UNE, will present the certificate of the CEA-APQ Quality Seal for Academic Publishing to the six collections that received it in the 2020 and 2021 calls. These include the University of Deusto's Cuadernos de Derechos Humanos collection. This Seal recognises best practices in Spanish university publications and aims to become a hallmark of research quality.
Along with this series, led by Cristina de la Cruz, the following were also awarded: Colección Academia (CIS), Colección Arias Montano (Universidad de Huelva), Colección Barcino. Monographicaorientalia (Universitat de Barcelona), Monografías de Historia Rural (Prensas de la Universidad de Zaragoza) and Derecho Penal y Criminología (Marcial Pons). The six collections, which have been awarded the seal of approval for meeting the requirements of information quality, editorial policy, editorial processes, reputation and prestige, as required in the evaluation process, will maintain the seal for a period of five years.
The Rectors’ teams and publishing managers will collect the certificate in a ceremony that will be held at the ANECA headquarters, at 12:00. During the ceremony, they will have the opportunity to explain the value of this recognition for the mission of knowledge transfer that universities and research centres carry out through book publishing.
49 accredited collections
In its five calls, 49 collections obtained this seal, which recognises best practices in Spanish university publishing, promotes and fosters quality in academic publishing and is a hallmark for research evaluation agencies and the university community.
Since its first call in 2017, the seal has been recognised as a quality indicator of publications to assess research performance. This recognition is shown in the evaluation criteria of Spain’s National Research Evaluation Committee and ANECA's evaluation criteria for the ACADEMIA programme.
In both cases, in addition to the requirements that must be met by research publications so that published contributions can be considered of high quality and impact, evaluation committees may take into account the CEA-APQ seal as a reference source of publications that meet the aforementioned criteria.
