The 4th edition of the roundtable “Science by Women: African women researchers transforming lives through sciences” will take place at the University of Deusto on 11 June 2019. The event is organised by the Women for Africa Foundation and aims to discuss the role of African researchers in transforming lives through science. The main goal is to enable African women researchers and scientists to tackle the great challenges faced by Africa through research in health, agriculture and food security, water, energy and climate change, as well as mathematics and economic science.
The event will be open by the Rector of the University of Deusto, José María Guibert, and count with the participation of Maria Luz Guenaga, member of the Deusto Interdisciplinary Research Platform on Gender. Together with representatives from Biocruzes Bizkaia, Kronigkune Research Center and Vall d’Hebron Research Institute, Maria Luz is going to present her research about the use of online labs in different countries in Africa, as a means to foster the participation of girls in STEM.
