DEUSTO amongst the best international universities on its contribution to UN Sustainable Development Goal 16

The University Impact Rankings 2019, the global performance ranking assessing universities contribution to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals has placed the University of Deusto amongst the 27 best universities in the world and the first Spanish university to promote Goal number 16: Promote just, peaceful and inclusive societies. In this ranking there are more than 450 universities from 77 countries.

Likewise, the University of Deusto is in the 101-200 range for meeting the Sustainable Development Goal 17: Revitalise the global partnership for sustainable development.

The Ranking has especially valued the collaborative work, the network and the ecosystem of collaboration with institutions, social entities and non-governmental organisations in the promotion of fairer, peaceful and inclusive societies, as well as the social impact of DEUSTO’s research, which is translated into 22 Scopus research articles and 51 projects aligned with SDG 16.

DEUSTO’s Rector, José María Guibert, stressed that this new international recognition "reinforces DEUSTO's firm commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda (...). A few days ago in the presentation of the new Strategic Plan Deusto 2022 we placed the 2030 Agenda as one of its main objectives. It is not a random choice. Our commitment and our willingness to contribute to sustainable development is firm and decisive. Being among the universities in the world most committed to the SDGs is the best incentive to continue working towards sustainable development and social justice".
