Research Training Grants Programme

Purpose of the programme and number of grants

This programme aims to foster research training within the framework of the UD’s PhD programmes by awarding assistance for research work conducted as part of UD research teams.

The 2019 call will offer 10 predoctoral grants. Consideration will be given to applicants’ CVs, the PhD programmes they are enrolled in, proposed research projects and their suitability for the research areas of the teams they will be attached to, in agreement with the priorities set by UD research policy.

The grants for the 2019 call will divided as follows:

  • PhD thesis with international mention or international co-supervision: for candidates who commit to undertaking a PhD thesis with international mention or international co-supervision, according to the criteria set out it RD 99/2011.
  • PhD in Transfer - Thesis governed by a partnership agreement with other entities (companies or institutions): for candidates who wish to undertake a thesis leading to the PhD in Transfer award according to UD regulations. These thesis proposals must have been defined in collaboration with an entity external to the UD and provide the name of a contact person at such entity in their application form.

Grant recipients

University graduates enrolled in official PhD programmes (recognised by the Spanish Ministry) at the University of Deusto and who wish to take part in scientific and technical courses and activities are eligible as grant recipients. Candidates must meet the entry requirements and comply with the profile set for the PhD programme.

Applicants are required to have been admitted or be currently enrolled in a PhD programme at the University of Deusto. Their application must be approved by the Principal Investigator of a team (officially recognised at the UD) which they would join to do their research project.

The application approved by the Principal Investigator must establish which of the two types of theses mentioned will be undertaken by the candidate and the Principal Investigator.
