Presentation

A double degree programme new to the university scene

This programme is a good fit for students interested in political, economic and social issues at the national and international levels, who want a solid legal background, have their sights set on the international scene and have the ability to analyse and synthesise today’s national and international events. Computer and people skills are key as well as the motivation to acquire legal knowledge about international relations. Students willing to make an extra effort will find this double degree especially appropriate.

Students completing this programme receive double degree qualifications which are new to the Spanish university scene although these programmes have a long standing tradition in the US and UK.

Professionals of tomorrow

Students on this programme learn to analyse and interpret situations worldwide and will have the necessary tools to advise and mediate between cultures. Interpret, use and write all types of legal texts and effectively approach the most common situations found in public and private organisations on the international scene. The programme concentrates on ensuring students develop their speaking, negotiation and leadership skills, all of which are essential to face up to the challenges involved in managing international affairs in complex contexts.

The aim is to give students a solid background with a double profile: on the one hand, expert knowledge of international relations in the different scopes (political, economic, etc.) focused on certain values such as justice, solidarity, democracy or defence of human rights. On the other, their legal expertise equips them with valuable problem-solving skills for international affairs.

An innovative student-centred approach

The course consists of taught sessions which are held in the morning. Students play an active role both in and out of the classroom and will have a tutor's support at all times. This training is based on various activities:

  • In-class presentations by lecturers and practising experts from various fields of international relations and law.
  • Participation in debates and seminars.
  • Individual and group projects and reports
  • Analysis and discussion of case studies.
  • Exams
