PhD Programmes: General Regulations

Research plan

Before the end of the first year of study, the PhD candidate will draft a Research Plan, which must be updated in the following years. The project must be defended publicly and approved by the Academic Committee of the programme. In the event that the project is not accepted by the committee due to a duly grounded negative assessment, the PhD candidate will be required to draft a new Research Plan which will be assessed within six months. In the event that this plan is not approved, the PhD candidate will be permanently dismissed from the programme.

The PhD student must apply to register the thesis within one month of the Academic Committee’s approval of the first Research Plan.

The Academic Committee will assess the Research Plan and Activity Record. A positive assessment is required to continue in the programme.

The UD will set down the supervision of PhD candidates through the PhD agreements signed by the university, the PhD student and his/her tutor/advisor and/or thesis supervisor.
