The University of Deusto welcomes 9 Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) selected in the second call of the H2020 6i Dirs project. 6i Dirs is a project funded by the European Commission’s Marie Skłodowska-Curie COFUND Action aiming to recruit 19 outstanding Early Stage Researchers for doctoral training to generate international, interdisciplinary, intersectoral, innovative, inclusive and impactful projects and dissertations. The project aspires to support and broaden their career prospects and promote their social contributions.

On the 6th of October, the newly selected candidates attended (in person or remotely) a Welcome session, where representatives from the International Research Project Office (IRPO), Deusto International Research School (DIRS) and the Human Resources Department presented the 6i model (the main axis of the project and of the University of Deusto to foster research internationalisation and excellence), as well as the specific objectives and further details of the project, and other practical aspects of the University. The 10 ESRs recruited in last year’s call were also invited to join the meeting in order to facilitate the integration of the two groups.

All candidates selected in the framework of the 6i Dirs have been chosen through an open, transparent, merit-based, impartial, equitable and internationally advertised procedure in alignment with the European Commission’s requirements. Both groups respect gender balance and a great diversity of geographical origins.

The 19 ESRs within the 6i Dirs project will take part in a high-quality PhD training, being incorporated into four doctoral programmes and the respective excellent research teams. The candidates will be also working closely with DEUSTO’s 5 interdisciplinary research platforms and 4 interdisciplinary areas.
