Deusto International Research School (DIRS) is the Doctoral School of the University of Deusto that catalyses an attractive research ecosystem in our two main university campuses (Bilbao and San Sebastian).
DIRS plays a prominent role in the university research strategy. Its mission is to foster excellence in advanced training of new researchers strengthening specific competences and transferable skills for both PhD candidates and experienced researchers.
In search of excellence, DIRS has set up a general framework and high academic quality standards for UDEUSTO PhD programmes. Strong emphasis is placed on interdisciplinary, international and inter-sectorial activities to enhance young researchers’ experience and exposure to real social challenges, networking and connection with business and third sectors.
Deeply rooted in the university research ecosystem, DIRS offers a myriad of possibilities for PhD candidates.
- An individual Research Career Development Plan, elaborated and monitored along the doctoral programme, structures the gradual development of research competences
- A dynamic interdisciplinary training programme guarantees a full range of content and competence based training (i.e., international seminars, complementary and transferable skills)
- Hosted in a reputed research unit every researcher has the possibility to participate in on-going international, interdisciplinary and/or inter-sectoral projects related to their field of study.
DIRS aims to recruit excellent young researchers, and offers several financial assistance programmes for PhD candidates.
