The overall aim of the Final Master’s Thesis (FMT) is to allow students to address and realise – in a team – an investigation of a business or topical economic issue with a mandatory international focus. Students will need to discover sources in the three languages of the programme and summarise their content, analyse similarities and differences in the approaches of each cultural area, and provide a thorough analysis of their chosen theme.
During the process of realising the Final Master’s Thesis, students should use both the general and specific skills and knowledge that they have acquired from the programme. The FMT allows students to demonstrate their acquisition of the skills necessary to pursue a career in the field of international and multilingual management
This consists of a technical report, written in English, and similar in style to a consultant’s report or one produced by the management team of an organisation. This memorandum should be produced by teams of three students, whose members are of at least two different nationalities and come from at least two different disciplines in their previous training.
2.- Oral defence (Comprehensive oral examination)
The Oral Defence occurs in late June in Bradford before a tribunal of professors from the three training centres. The authors of the thesis should make an analytical presentation in English of the chosen theme, in which all the members of the group participate. At the end of the presentation, the tribunal will ask questions of each student individually in one of the three languages (that is not the student’s mother tongue). The examiners will assess the quality of the presentation, mastery of the specific management content, the systemic overview (the organisation and integration of the interrelated components of the topic in order to form a whole), the fluency and nature of the presentation and the form of response to questions. This examination is to check the students’ ability to:
- Use knowledge of international management acquired through the programme (specific and general competences);
- Work in groups using documentation from three linguistic areas;
- Demonstrate their ability to present and defend their ideas in three languages.
