The Euroculture programme offers a unique and high-level international learning experience. As a Euroculture student, you will:

  • study issues that are related to European integration and European institutions from multiple perspectives, focusing on the citizen and culture rather than on abstract models and structures.
  • learn about approaches and methods from different disciplines including social and cultural studies and international relations.
  • study at at least two different universities in Europe and have the chance to do an internship or to attend a third university, including (for a selected group of European students) outside of Europe.
  • study and socialise with people from all over the world and from a variety of cultural backgrounds.
  • take part in an international summer school—Euroculture’s Intensive Programme—with around 100 participants from all partner universities.
  • enhance your employability by developing your professional and academic skills and intercultural competences 

 

Competences

The Euroculture programme employs a competence-based approach to teaching and learning, with the development of students’ competences at the centre. The following competences are developed throughout the programme: 

General skills
  • GC1. Critical thinking. Analysing the consistency and logic of one’s own and others’ judgements, evaluating their personal and social implications 
  • GC 2: Adaptability. Meeting difficult challenges in new and changing situations without losing a high level of effectiveness
  • GC3: Team Work. Contributing to the consolidation and development of the team, fostering communication, balanced distribution of work, good team atmosphere and cohesion
  • GC 4: Creativity. Contributing original, practical, applicable, flexible and complex ideas and solutions, affecting self and own processes, as well as others
  • GC5. Objectives-based management. Efficiently pursuing stated objectives and goals, analysing and addressing difficulties and necessary adjustments

Specific competences

  • SC 1: Identify and use different sources of information to analyses the process of European integration, the cultural constructions and transformations that sustain it as well as its internal and external impacts.
  • SC2: Analyse the process of European integration, the cultural constructions and transformations that sustain it, with a basis in knowledge from different sources and academic disciplines.
  • SC3: Demonstrate familiarity with the key subjects and public debates on the European construction process and to systematically analyse the internal and external impact of the key aspects of the process of European integration and the cultural transformations that sustain it.
  • SC4: Analyse problems and sustain opinions with a basis in scientific arguments
  • SC5: Communicate the results of an analysis efficiently to different audiences and in different formats.
  • SC6: Understand and accept social and cultural diversity as a personal and collective enrichment to further coexistence and cooperation without discrimination based on gender, age, disability, religion, ethnicity or social or political status.
  • SC7: Identify, analyse and experience all the stages necessary for preparing, directing, executing, evaluating and following up on an international project, from the development of the idea to its manifestation in a concrete service or product. 
  • SC8: Relate positively to other persons through empathic listening and the clear and assertive expression of thoughts and feelings in verbal and non-verbal forms in social contexts characterised by being intercultural 
  • SC 9: Apply the skills acquired in the MA programme in the practice of an organization, be it an NGO, a private company, academic institution, public sector organization etc. to execute tasks related mainly to intercultural communication, institutional relations and project management in the areas of research, development cooperation, communication, cultural affairs or social innovation. 
  • SC10: Apply scientific methods and research techniques of the social and human sciences that are appropriate to the problem during the collection, processing and analysis of data. 
  • SC11: Demonstrate knowledge of scientific procedures regarding the problem formulation and hypotheses, selection of primary and secondary sources and presentation of results. 
  • SC12: Make assessments that incorporate reflexions on their social and ethical implications. 
  • SC13: Reach realistic conclusions about the possibility of continuing a line of research in a PhD programme or applying in practice the insights generated
