LLM Program

Master of Laws

Introduction

LLM Program Deusto University focuses on International Law, the most significant legal area in our globalised world providing students with the best skills, practice and concepts
for this complex field.

Deusto is an official accredited institution and a dynamic organization recognized by its relevant academic quality among Spanish Universities.

An LLM

Based in the Anglo-American tradition, an LLM (Master of Laws) is an internationally recognized postgraduate Law degree aimed at gaining expertise in a specialized field of Law. While this new LLM program is mainly focused on the area of International Law, it also encourages interdisciplinary approaches.

Opportunities for personal and professional advancement

Deusto LLM in International Legal Studies is an official Master that offers specialized training in the area of International Law for recent graduates of Law, International Relations, Business, Sociology or Political Science hoping to expand their networks and experience in an increasingly internationalized world. This LLM is also an ideal avenue for professionals seeking to deepen their international legal knowledge and practical skills, for persons committed to the promotion of human rights, social justice and a healthy environment, and for individuals with scholarly aspirations. After successful completion of the LLM, students will be able to initiate an international career at law firms, international organizations, corporations, NGOs, academia, think-tanks or domestic public bodies on gender equality, asylum-seekers or anti-discrimination, among other options.

Why this LLM at Deusto?

Deusto Law School is a top-ranked Spanish Law school, offering a highly qualified faculty, a multicultural student body, a dynamic and innovative urban setting, opportunities to apply legal theory and practical skills, and a global alumni network. Deusto Law School’s academic excellence, combined with practical learning and a long-established international vocation, affords both Spanish and foreign students an unparalleled LLM experience.

International mobility

International mobility is a core ingredient of our LLM in International Legal Studies. During the first semester, students do a compulsory intensive week of theoretical and practical training in a European country under the program Field Experience Abroad.

Additionally, the second semester offers the opportunity of following some optional courses in prestigious universities such as the University of Utrecht (The Netherlands), Ateneo Law School of Manila (The Philippines), Washington College of Law at American University (USA), The George Washington University (USA), or the University of San Martin in Buenos Aires (Argentina).

Academic networking is a key strategic goal for the University of Deusto. Accordingly, Deusto Law School is an active member of relevant networks such as the European Law Faculties Association (ELFA), the International Association of Jesuit Universities (IAJU), or the Association of Human Rights Institutes (AHRI), to name but a few.
