Since 1970, the Teaching Certificate (CAP) has been required to teach in secondary education. Social and legal changes in education at all levels and the current panorama called for a different approach in training secondary education teachers.
This new social and educational reality requires capable professionals who, in addition to teaching a specific subject, cover diverse educational tasks, related to the following:
- Efficient communication
- Social coexistence
- New technologies
- Tutorials and counselling
- Conflict resolution
- Social skills
- Emotional education
Therefore, this Master’s degree programme enables students to develop the professional competences needed to carry out the tasks demanded of secondary education, baccalaureate, vocational training and language teachers.
This Master’s programme will be taught for the eighth time during 2016-2017 at the Bilbao campus and for the sixth time at the San Sebastian campus.
The new specialism in Educational Counselling was implemented in 2013-2014. This specific study plan focuses on training future secondary school educational counsellors and will be offered for the fourth time in the 2016-2017 academic year.
Over 400 graduates, from different backgrounds and specialist fields, have completed this programme. They have all contributed to the development and continuous renewal of a Master’s degree programme which is distinctive for ongoing improvement.
