On the slopes of Mount Artxanda

When Deusto was officially recognised as a University and it started to expand, more space was required for university activities. For this reason, in 1967, Deusto Hall of Residence moved to a new location built on the slopes of Mount Artxanda. Thirty-three years after is construction, all rooms were refurbished and equipped with en-suite bathroom, Internet connection, telephone and piped music, with new and functional furniture. The former boarding school and now Hall of Residence has been home to renowned figures from the arts, law, economics and politics, but the most distinguished of them all was Brother Francis Gárate, caretaker for forty years.

Centre of the Society of Jesus

The Deusto Hall of Residence was created in 1961 with the aim to provide accommodation to those students who wished to complement their academic education with social and human education within an atmosphere of study and coexistence. This same spirit, and St Ignatius’ motto to love and to serve”, preside over Deusto Hall of Residence today.

Its current location dates back to 1967. Since then, its rooms have been progressively refurbished and equipped with en-suite full bathroom, Internet connection, telephone, and new and functional furniture.

Antiguos alumnos
